Home Of Moses Moore

This may be the original home of Moses Moore. It's located just east of Cherryville, North Carolina in the northern part of Gaston County and just south of Indian Creek. If you are interested in seeing this home take Hwy 150 east (towards Lincolnton) and just outside of Cherryville you will see Bud Black Rd on your left. Take a left and go to the first dirt road on the right and go all the way to the back.

If this is the original home of Moses Moore it had to be built fairly early as he was on Indian Creek as early as the late 1750's. My guess would be the early 1760's, although that's only a guess. The home is occupied by a renter and owned by Bud Black. Moses Moore left this area after the Rev War and the story goes that his daughter Hester Moore, who married Joshua Roberts, lived in the home for many years. It is also said she is the one that put the addition on the back which was then used as a kitchen. The remarkable thing about the home is how good of shape it's in. Very lovely spot. There is also a cemetery close by that I'm told Hester and Joshua Roberts are buried in.

Why am I interested in Moses Moore? Thomas Robinson Sr was involved with very few people in the early days and Moses Moore was one of the primary ones. It's possible, and this is only a guess, his wife was a Moore.
